Technology and materials Fjallraven Vardag :
G-1000 Heavy Duty is Fjallraven's base material, created in 1968. It is 65% polyester and 35% cotton. Wear-resistant and durable, protects against wind and UV radiation. G-1000 is durable, but G-1000 Heavy Duty is even stronger.
Tough, waterproof, coated with Greenland wax on both sides, it takes durability to the next level. Fjallraven's G-1000 Heavy Duty is less ventilated than the G-1000, which is why we use it for products where durability is a priority over breathability, such as in many of our bags and backpacks.
A durable, wear-resistant fabric made from a mixture of polyester and cotton has long been used in the production of not only clothing, but also, for example, backpacks. The fabric is impregnated with paraffin based on beeswax, due to which it becomes waterproof, windproof, but at the same time remains breathable. G-1000 – it is a multi-purpose fabric, clothing made from it can protect you from strong wind, snow or rain. Such useful properties of this fabric can be strengthened or renewed after washings, by means of waxing with special paraffin Greenland Wax (Greenland wax). The product, whether it be a bag or a jacket or a backpack, needs to be rubbed with paraffin, all or in critical places, and warmed up a little with a regular hair dryer so that the paraffin is absorbed.
Greenland Wax.
This is a simple, nature-inspired solution to problems with elemental influences. Made from a mixture of beeswax and paraffin, it protects the material from water and provides windproof properties. By removing the wax, you can make the item lighter and more breathable. Most G-1000 materials are made pre-waxed, but it's still good to know how to reapply and remove the wax to adapt the product to weather conditions.
Vardag Collection
Vardag is translated as "everyday", which is fully consistent with the philosophy of the collection. After all, it was created to build a bridge between the city and nature. Vardag clothing is equally suitable for going to school or work, as well as for outdoor recreation. These are clothes that make adventure close to home even more accessible.
The design of the Vardag family is based on timelessness and functionality. And also our love for classic design. We took the prototype labels that were sewn inside the collars of our iconic 1960s-1970s models and placed them on the outside of the new ones, updating only the font that matches our new logo.
Fjallraven – Swedish brand originates in 1950 Ake Nordin – the founder of the brand, the creator of the world's first frame backpack, already in the 1960s began the production of functional products for travel and mountain tourism enthusiasts. The company produces everything from travel tents and backpacks to high-quality wear-resistant clothing.
