Textile suitcases are still one of the most popular items in the luggage industry. It seems that not only out of habit but also because they are light and beautiful, with front pockets and various compartments inside. At a minimum, this is a large pocket for ironed things on the lid, cross straps, and, usually, a small pocket for small items on one of the walls.
Cloth suitcases are fueled by new materials, nylon/polyester blend fabrics, finishes, and all-new designer collections from American Tourister, Samsonite, Roncato, and other major manufacturers.
Key features of fabric suitcases
- New technology for impregnating fabrics on the wrong side with polyurethane has become a very serious step in the popularity of fabric suitcases. Thanks to this, they became waterproof and wear resistance increased significantly. In addition, a non-standard appearance and a new texture appeared.
- Before, cloth suitcases were fairly simple, with one main volume and a flat lid. Now you can often find two-volume suitcases of two halves, which is very convenient for traveling together. Also, this design increases the rigidity and stability of the suitcase even with an increase in volume. After all, as you know, the standard layout loses 100% stability with an increase in volume. Many manufacturers make retractable legs, which negatively affects their reliability. The solution was the production of fabric suitcases with a slight slope back, in this case, the increase in volume does not affect stability so much.
- Stowing things well is very important for sustainability. The heaviest and hardest are best placed at the bottom, breakable objects can be wrapped in things and placed between the wheels – this is the toughest and safest place.
- All fabric suitcases have a polymer frame and have recently been made lightweight using honeycomb technology or simply perforating polypropylene sheets. It happens that such suitcases have a frame made of foamed polyurethane, then they can have beautiful streamlined shapes.
Lipault suitcases look very unusual. This major French manufacturer, whose luggage could be found in the boutiques of Paris and other major European cities until recently, is now also sold in Ukraine. All collections of this brand are sewn from dense shiny nylon or vinyl-coated nylon and are easily recognizable due to their incredible design and rich colors. The colors change every season, but the materials and design always have something in common that makes you always recognize a Lipault suitcase.
