Over the years, several more collections have been released, with a variety of designs, from classic and strict to futuristic. But all of them are united by the very famous material for the case. Here we will take a closer look at it, the design features of suitcases from Curv & reg; and dispel some misconceptions. We will also share our personal travel experience with such suitcases.
Revolutionary suitcase material Curv® in the Koffer.UA store
- Samsonite patented the Curv®, which was developed for it by German engineers. It consists of multilayer interlaced threads of high molecular weight polypropylene, which, when hot molded, form a strong connection. Thanks to this structure, it looks like ordinary plastic with the appearance of a fabric, the properties of which it possesses at the same time. That is, the material can be crushed, run over by a car, it returns to its previous shape.
- At the same time, has enough elasticity and rigidity to maintain its shape. Of course, you have noticed that all suitcases from Curv® designers provided a three-dimensional pattern. For example, in the form of a shell, ribs, vertical or horizontal elements. They just help keep the shape elastic. And thanks to them, a large thickness of the material is not needed.
- This suitcase does not need a frame, it is self-supporting and therefore very light. In general, all the elements of such luggage are super light. For example, retractable handles are made of super-strong and lightweight aircraft-grade duralumin.
- All Samsonite suitcases from Curv® are arranged in such a way that any element, – wheels, handles, locks, change within a few minutes. This is because the fastening screws are easily visible from inside the luggage.
- Now about personal experience with suitcases from Curv®. In our use, several suitcases made of this material, they withstood from 30 to 90 flights and are still alive and well. The oldest Cosmolite had its wheels replaced in mid-life. But I note that not because they are broken. The wheels are noisy. I periodically wash new wheels and spray silicone spray on the axle. The retractable handle was not serviced at all. Anyone who knows us understands that our baggage handling is terrible. Rarely a beach, but more mountains, deserts, ancient paving stones, sand and tens of kilometers on foot. If you remember the center of Athens, then here are 5 km on natural rounded cobblestones at 5 in the morning the suitcases were rolled.
- Definitely recommend this kind of luggage. It pays off 100%.
- Manufacturer and we strongly recommend that you open the zippers all the way down, otherwise it will stretch too much when the lid is flipped open and wear out faster.
- There is a misconception that scratches do not appear on such material. Do not forget that this is a polymer, which means that in any case it is softer than granite and asphalt. There will be scratches! This does not bother us, but if you want eternal gloss, wrapping with a film will save you. Better yet, pick up a cool case or get it as a gift when buying a suitcase from Curv® we have. Money, ecology and time – all in the black!
Currently, there is no better material for luggage. Lightweight, prestigious and durable suitcases – one of the best investments for an experienced traveler!
