You can take a men's travel bag instead of a suitcase or use it as an extra bag. Some models attach to a suitcase's telescoping handle, so you can roll both with one hand.
How to choose a men's travel bag
-
Size and capacity. Two bags with the same capacity in liters can have very different dimensions: one may be longer, the other taller. It's worth comparing both volume and measurements. For carry-on luggage, actual dimensions matter more than a “small” size label – the bag must meet the allowance for your fare. If there's a weight limit, include the weight of the bag itself along with everything packed inside.
-
Carrying options. When carrying a bag by hand, handle length isn't the only consideration – the handles should also feel comfortable in your grip. A separate adjustable shoulder strap is useful if you prefer to carry the bag over your shoulder. If you'll be walking a long way through an airport or train station, a wheeled model may be easier, especially with a heavy load. Still, you'll have to lift it up stairs or into a car trunk, so grab handles matter too.
-
Compartments and construction. One large main compartment gives you more flexibility when packing bulky items. Two compartments are helpful if you'd rather keep clothing and other belongings separate. A wide opening makes packing and finding things easier, while exterior pockets keep documents and small essentials within reach. Protective feet are useful if you often set the bag on the floor. If rain protection matters, check the model's specifications for a water-repellent treatment.
